Attendees will be given a brief overview of the field of play therapy, helping them understand the rationale for play therapy intervention. We will briefly explore and discuss key theoretical contributors, in addition to exploring varying play therapy approaches, (Adlerian, Child-Centered, Directive, Filial, etc.).

There will be an exploration of a variety of approaches to play, with emphasis on the skill building, application of technique, and use of the sand tray, as a means to communicate with children and teens in the play room.

The afternoon portion of the live contact workshop is designed to provide the participant with a brief introduction to the field of Play Therapy. Participants will be provided with an overview of Play Therapy, provided with key notable theorists that have contributed to the field of Play Therapy, and further explore application of theoretical perspectives in practice. During this basis foundation course, participants will be exposed to varying theoretical orientations and approaches to include Child Centered Play Therapy, Developmental Play Therapy,
